AMMAN — In the first half of this year,
Mount Nebo in Jordan
witnessed a 131.4 percent increase in visitors compared to last year. A
reported 387,015 people visited
Mount Nebo this year, a significant leap from
the previous year's 167,249.

Foreign tourists led this increase, accounting for 364,746
visitors, while Jordanian visitors numbered 22,269. This surge contrasts with
the previous year's 147,773 foreign visitors and 19,476
Jordanian visitors.
Mount Nebo's popularity is underscored by its historical and
archaeological sites, including the revered Mar Elias site, the
ancient fortified city of Khirbat Iskandar, the iconic Mesha Stele inscription, the
historical tower at Umm Ar-Rasas, as well as a rich religious history.
Its most popular claim to fame is its being the final
resting place of the
Prophet Moses, and from where he first saw the promised
land.
