AMMAN — In its
latest report on the human rights situation in Jordan for the year 2020, the
National Center for Human Rights (NCHR) emphasized the importance of issuing the
Child Law and the completion of its constitutional stages, noting that 20
complaints were received by the Center related to the rights of the child in 2020,
according to Al-Rai news.

In its seventeenth
report for 2020, the NCHR pointed out the challenges that still face the
protection of children from violence, including the separation of institutions
that have taken upon themselves the responsibility of protecting children from
violence.
The figures and
statistics issued by the Family Protection Department of the Public Security
Directorate in 2020 show that the total number of attacks against children
amounted to 1,618 cases, including 921 cases of assault on girls, among them 257
physical attacks, 557 sexual assaults, and 107 separate cases of assault. Cases
involving attacks against boys numbered 697 cases of assault, among them 264
physical assaults, 329 sexual assaults, and 41 separate cases of assault.
