Chilean politician Verónica Michelle Bachelet’s mandate expired
on Wednesday, and no successor has yet been named.
Nashif served as a deputy to Bachelet, who assumed office in

UN’s Spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric said that he did not
expect an announcement on Bachelet's successor on Wednesday.
Pending an announcement, starting September 1 Nada Youssef
Al-Nashif, a deputy High Commissioner for Human Rights, will take up the task,
he added.
