Amman - The National Electric Power Company (NEPCO) has been awarded the 2024 Middle East Corporate Energy Management Award by the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE), based in the United States.

According to a company statement on Thursday, the award recognizes NEPCO's exceptional achievements in the electricity sector across the Middle East. The company applied for the award as the entity responsible for managing and controlling energy sources in Jordan, where the contribution of renewable energy to electricity generation has risen from 1 percent in 2013 to 29 percent in 2023.
The international awards are presented to public sector organizations for their outstanding achievements in developing, organizing, managing, and implementing comprehensive energy management programs.
The awards ceremony will be held at the AEE's Conference and Exhibition in Nashville, USA, next September.
The International Association of Energy Engineers, a non-profit organization founded in the USA in 1977, aims to promote education in energy and management. It has more than 18,000 members from over 100 countries and is dedicated to "promoting the scientific and educational interests of those who work in the energy industry and advancing sustainable development." The Association offers a range of media outreach programs including seminars (live and online), conferences, journals, books, and certificate programs.
