Al-Ghad reported that Jordan’s participation in the AFC
Asian Cup significantly boosted the café sector in the Kingdom.
Anas Abdeen, a café owner, confirmed that café reservations
reached 100 percent capacity immediately after Jordan’s national team qualified
for the
final match.
Abdeen emphasized that cafés showing the
AFC Asian Cup matches, especially when the national team plays, experience high demand.
He added that during last Tuesday’s match when Jordan
defeated South Korea, reservations were also at 100 percent capacity, and some
patrons watched the game while standing due to the crowded venues. Some could
not enter due to the crowd.
Abdeen pointed out that
Jordanian citizens have closely
followed all the national team’s matches since the start of the Asian Cup. They
sought joy in Jordan’s victories, especially given the difficult circumstances
in the
region pertaining to Gaza.
It is worth noting that there are around 1,000 tourist
restaurants and cafés distributed across different governorates in the kingdom,
in addition to approximately 800 non-tourist establishments.
The sector employs about 35,000 workers at a minimum, with
some establishments having up to 100
employees. Jordanian workers constitute
over 80 percent of the workforce in this sector.
