AMMAN — The Adventure Tourism Conference for
the Near East (Adventure ELEVATE) kicked off in Amman under the slogan
"Sharing Fierce Wisdom". In attendance were 175 people from all
around the world with opening remarks from
Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Makram Al-Qaisi highlighting that the Kingdom places great importance on adventure
tourism and that it’s a perfect spot to adventure with many unique and diverse
landscapes, not just in the region, but globally. He also highlighted
Jordan's ambition to be a diverse tourist attraction for this type of tourism by 2030.

He added that the significance of adventure
tourism lies in its contribution to community tourism. For instance, the
Jordan Trail, ranked sixth globally by many adventure tourism organizations, supports
around 100 community tourism experiences out of 850 available throughout the
Kingdom, the Jordan News Agency, Petra reported.
Meanwhile, Director-General of the Jordan
Tourism Board Dr. Abdul Razzaq Arabiyat mentioned that when the challenges of
Covid-19 subsided, a natural human desire for adventure and exploration. Jordan
witnessed a surge in the spirit of adventure among travelers and was ready to
embrace adventure tourists, offering unique experiences.
Arabiyat also highlighted the collaboration
with low-cost airlines and specialized adventure offers to cater to the unique
needs of tourists while considering their budget constraints. He mentioned that
the board hosted over 120 global tourism offices from adventure tourism
companies, received more than 85 international media personalities, generated
over $17 million from
new tourism businesses, and secured media coverage worth millions
of dollars regionally and internationally to promote adventure
tourism in Jordan and the region.
He said, "Jordan's advantage lies in its
diversity, from camping under the stunning stars to the beautiful valleys, from
long walks through Wadi Rum and Petra to enjoying the flavors of a homemade
meal that embodies the genuine Jordanian hospitality, creating cherished
memories for every tourist."
