AMMAN — The
Dutch Ambassador to Jordan, Harry Verweij,
announced that his country has invested more than 200 million euros since 2019
to support Jordan in hosting refugees.

He made the announcement during a ceremony organized by the
Dutch embassy in Amman to celebrate the
National Day of the Netherlands and King's Day.
Additionally, the
Dutch Foreign Minister, Wopke Hoekstra,
expressed his appreciation for Jordan's important role in the evacuation of
Dutch citizens and others from Sudan during the past period.
He praised the Jordanian government's efforts to
establish an air bridge to ensure the safety of its citizens and reiterated his country's
commitment to investing in partnership and friendship with Jordan.
Strengthening cooperationThe ceremony also highlighted the cooperation between the
two countries in various fields, including water management, agriculture,
education, private sector development, human rights, trade, and security.
Verweij emphasized the importance of the strategic
partnership between the Netherlands and Jordan and their shared commitment to
regional stability.
Verweij also praised Jordan's humanitarian role in hosting
refugees, especially those fleeing the Syrian conflict.
He noted that supporting Jordan in this field, including
investment in protection, education, and job opportunities for both refugees
and host communities, is a top priority for the Dutch government's new strategy
until 2026.
Celebrating 70 years of diplomatic relationsThe
Dutch ambassador also highlighted the depth and strength
of the relations between the two countries in various fields.
This year marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of
diplomatic relations between the Netherlands and Jordan, and the ceremony
celebrated this milestone.
