— The
Central Bank of Jordan (CBJ) has announced the circulation of the fifth
edition of the JD20 banknote, which will bear the image of the late King
Hussein bin Talal, starting from Tuesday.

The
new banknote will be circulated alongside the fourth edition of the JD20 banknote,
reported the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
Gradual circulation of new JD10 and JD5 banknotes to be announcedCBJ
stated in a statement on Tuesday that the fifth edition of the JD20 banknote's
circulation is based on the Jordanian
Currency Issuance System No. (55) for
2022, published in the official gazette on October 2, 2022.
Furthermore,
the bank clarified that the new JD10 and JD5 denominations will be gradually
circulated on dates that will be announced later.
Fourth edition of JD20 banknote to continue in circulationWhile
the fifth edition of the J
D20 banknote enters circulation, the fourth edition
will continue to be circulated alongside it, said the CBJ.
The
bank added that the latest banknote has security features utilized in the
currency industry and that their quality of banknotes have been improved,
enhancing their durability for an extended period.

CBJ noted that the key features of the new banknote edition are described in
the Jordanian Currency Issuance System No. (55) for the year 2022.
