Washington – A new wildfire broke out on Wednesday evening north of Los Angeles, forcing thousands of residents to evacuate their homes in an area that has recently witnessed other devastating fires, according to the Los Angeles Times.

The fire spread rapidly near Castaic Lake, burning 1,400 hectares in less than two hours, with strong, hot, and dry winds fueling its spread.
Evacuation orders were issued for around 31,000 people living around the lake, located about 56 kilometers north of Los Angeles, close to the city of Santa Clarita.
This fire comes at a time when the Los Angeles area is still reeling from the aftermath of two massive fires that resulted in over twenty fatalities and the destruction of thousands of buildings.
It’s worth noting that Southern California has not experienced any rainfall for nearly eight months, leaving the countryside dry, even though January is typically the middle of the rainy season in the region.
