AMMAN — As of Sunday, October 1, a new policy has come into
effect, requiring all types of new cars (gasoline, hybrid, electric) to come
with a mandatory warranty when sold by dealers and exhibitors, excluding
agents. It is anticipated that between 7 to 10 vehicle maintenance centers and
car dealers, along with several car dealers acting as agents, will offer
mandatory warranties for the car models they represent.اضافة اعلان
He clarified that the mandatory warranty's
cost ranges from 3 to 7 percent of the vehicle's value, excluding sales tax.
However, the minimum value cannot be less than JD300. The percentage varies
depending on the car's specifications and model, Al Mamlaka TV reported.
According to the Director of Consumer
Protection at the Ministry of Industry and Commerce Mutasim Jaloudi buyers will
visit the dealer, who has an agreement with a specific maintenance center
regarding the mandatory warranty for the vehicle. The dealer will then enter
the dedicated platform for mandatory warranties and fill in the vehicle's specifications
and details.
He added that the transaction will be
forwarded to the maintenance center, which, after reviewing and inspecting the
vehicle, will grant its approval. The warranty will then be returned
electronically to the dealer, and the Ministry of Industry and Commerce will
send it electronically to the Customs Department and the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Department.
Cars, specifically those with a model year or
the year before or after, and with a mileage of less than 1000 kilometers, imported
by dealers and exhibitors who are not agents, will be subject to mandatory
warranties as follows:
- For gasoline and hybrid cars: A mandatory warranty of two years or 40,000 kilometers, whichever comes first.
- For electric cars: A mandatory warranty of 3 years or 50,000 kilometers, whichever comes first.
