A Royal Decree was issued earlier, approving the reshuffle
of Khasawneh’s Cabinet, according to a statement from the Royal Court.
Prime Minister
Khasawneh and Royal Hashemite Court Chief Yousef Issawi attended the
swearing-in, according to the statement.
Hawari was the first head of the National Center for
Epidemics and Communicable Diseases Control. His last post before his
appointment was the head of the Cancer Control Office at the King Hussein
Cancer Center.
He acquired his degree of internal medicine from New York State
University, and headed several departments at the cancer center before his last
posting.
Before his appointment, Shamali was the secretary general of
the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Supply, as well as the acting director
general of the Jordan Standards and Metrology Organization.
A Royal Decree had been issued earlier this month, accepting
the resignation of former labor minister Maen Qatamin from his position as of
March 8, one day after his swearing-in, while another Royal Decree was issued
dismissing health minister Nathir Obeidat from his position as of March 13,
following the death of seven COVID-19 patients at Salt Public Hospital due to
oxygen shortage.
