AMMAN — Wafai Imseis, president of The
Jordanian Society for the Prevention of Road Accidents, says that the new law,
which removes fault from drivers in accidents with pedestrians crossing at
unlawful points, primarily deals with unintentional accidents, emphasizing the
importance of
strict adherence to traffic rules.

He emphasized that these amendments do not
relate to
deliberate hit-and-run incidents. The primary objective of these
changes is to enhance road safety measures and establish clear guidelines
regarding the responsibilities of both drivers and pedestrians in various
traffic scenarios, according to Nabd.
In an attempt to enhance road safety,
Imseis stressed the urgent need for infrastructure improvements, particularly
in the capital and its provinces. This includes
installing pedestrian crossings, traffic signals, and improving the management of pedestrian traffic.
