AMMAN — The Tafileh Agriculture
Directorate built more than 15 embankment dams and wells in various parts of the
governorate in 2022, spending JD700,000 on agricultural projects aimed at collecting
rainwater through excavation, Al-Mamlaka TV reported.

The directorate said on Thursday that its water
harvesting projects “contributed to supplying the various crops in the
governorate with
high quantities of water (in 2022), reaching 3 million cubic
meters".

cumulative 70 mm, with some areas in the governorate receiving over 100 mm of
precipitation.
The volume of rainwater stored in embankment
dams and wells in Tafileh totaled 3 million cubic meters, while 3.5 million
cubic meters were stored in the Tannour Dam in northern Tafileh.
The directorate highlighted plans to build
additional
ponds for farmers in 2023 to conserve spring water for irrigating
crops.
Farmers in Tafileh described the start of
this year's rainy season as "excellent compared to previous years",
according to Al-Mamlaka.
