AMMAN — An official medical source at Al-Salt
Governmental Hospital confirmed to Al-Ghad News that the nitrogen leakage
incident that the hospital witnessed on Sunday is not dangerous, nor should it
be a cause of concern.

The source added that the cause of the citizens’
anxiety is their fears that this incident would be similar to the oxygen
accident last March when a sudden lack of oxygen from the hospital’s COVID-19
department caused the death of 10 patients. A trial is still ongoing for the
case.
The medical source indicated that a nitrogen leakage
incident occurred inside a warehouse and not in any medical departments. Civil
defense teams dealt with the incident immediately, without the occurrence of
any damages, except for a minor injury to one of the workers.
The source pointed out that nitrogen is used for
long-term anesthesia and has nothing to do with the oxygen supply network.
However, he added that the hospital administration began an investigation into
the accident to find out its details, to avoid its recurrence in the future.
The Ministry of Health is following up on the details
of the incident and its repercussions.
