Balbisi called on citizens not to panic about Monkeypox, stressing that “this virus will not start a pandemic because it is difficult to transmit from one person to another”. He indicated that “there is strict control in the health centers of the Ministry of Health, which are located at the crossings and borders,” stressing “their continuous follow-up on mechanisms for monitoring cases and detecting them if there is any”.

Balbisi explained that “suspected cases are those who suffer from an unexplained skin rash” in addition to one of the following symptoms, high temperature of more than 38.5 degrees, muscle pain, swollen lymph glands, or general exhaustion. “If these symptoms were noticed and there is suspicion of the virus, the ministry will investigate the case, by taking (PCR) samples or taking a swab from the skin.”

Balbisi pointed out that “among the measures taken by the ministry, two isolation rooms have been allocated in Al-Bashir hospital as a precaution”.
