AMMAN — Jordan is free of bird and swine
flu, and Jordanian livestock is healthy, said Majdi Al-Amro, assistant
secretary-general for livestock at the Ministry of Agriculture, reported

According to Amro, the ministry is working to
support livestock breeders throughout the Kingdom through a large-scale
livestock vaccination campaign, which has already been implemented.
A campaign to wipe out foot-and-mouth disease within
the next two years has also begun, said Amro.
Jordan is home to over 4.5 million head of
livestock, including newborns, with more than 600,000 exported to the Gulf last
year, he said.
