AMMAN — The President of the
Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission (EMRC) Engineer Ziad Al Saaideh confirmed that there has been no
increase in the electricity tariff for electric vehicle charging since April
2020, and the tariff was expected to remain the same, according to Jo24 News.

Regarding private charging stations installed at homes or
private facilities licensed by the Commission, monthly tariffs are determined
for charging electric vehicles, and no additional fees are added to the tariff
since these are considered private charging stations where the owner bears the
full cost of the station.
The Commission is responsible for determining the
appropriate
tariff for electric vehicle charging and setting a ceiling for the
distributor's fee. An optional time-based tariff was implemented by the
Commission starting May 28, 2023, for activities including
electric vehicle charging. This tariff included reduced rates for energy consumption during
off-peak hours (from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.), amounting to 90 fils per kilowatt-hour
per month, instead of 120 fils.
The possibility of further reducing the tariff for off-peak
hours and including other sectors will be considered based on the results of
the study.
