AMMAN —
Minister of Health Firas Al-Hawari said that despite the recent spread of
COVID-19 Omicron B.5 variant, there will be no lockdowns, according to Jo24.

In a TV interview
on Friday, Hawari asserted that there will be no hike in the number of COVID-19
cases in the upcoming period, stressing that the health situation is considered
excellent and is under control.
Some 2,400
COVID-19 cases were recorded last week in the Kingdom, he noted.
Globally,
COVID-19 cases have recently increased by 30 percent, the minister said,
indicating that Jordan records an average of 2,000 cases per week.
He also pointed
out that few COVID-19 cases are admitted to hospitals, noting that currently
five individuals are in intensive care in the Kingdom’s hospitals.
The minister
stressed that it is important to take the third dose of COVID-19 vaccine, and
to wear masks at gatherings.
