AMMAN — The Independent Election Commission stressed that it will not ask voters to show the COVID-19
vaccination certificate upon voting in the upcoming local elections, indicating
that this does not violate Defense Order No. 35, IEC board member Jihad
Al-Momani was quoted by Jo24 as saying.
In November 2021, the IEC issued the
decision that municipal and provincial council elections will be held on March
22, 2022.
Momani said that the voting stations
will not be overcrowded and that physical distancing will be kept, which is why
people do not need to show vaccine certificates. He also stressed that the IEC
is committed to the epidemiological committee’s recommendations and to the
defense orders related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
