Al-Hilalat talked through the "Economic Sunday" program on Al-Mamlaka TV about a shortage in the number of rooms in the Kingdom and the problem of encouraging investment.
He said that Jordanians always feel that hotel prices are high, but the cost of production in hotels is high, whether because of taxes, electricity, water, or employment, which leads to a somewhat increase in hotel prices.
The number of Jordanian workers in the hotel sector is about 17,000, compared to 2,976 non-Jordanians.
Member of the
Jordan Society of Tourism & Travel Agents, Khaled Hijjawi, acknowledged that domestic tourism prices in Jordan are higher than in other countries, adding: "With certain seasons, European foreign tourists get lower prices than Jordanians."
Hijjawi pointed out that the “
Ordonnona Jannah” (Jordan is a paradise) program operated about 141 tourist offices, 60 restaurants, and 62 hotels and camps in Jordan.
