The conference delved into critical topics
surrounding the role of gas in energy transition, alongside discussions on the
future of natural gas, biogas, biomethane, and hydrogen potentials, Khaberni
reported.
In her closing remarks, Azzam shed light on
the challenges and opportunities facing the Mediterranean region in its journey
towards energy transition. She stressed the imperative of adhering to
fundamental mechanisms and commitments to ensure the successful transformation
of the region's energy landscape.
Key among the mechanisms highlighted by
Azzam was the necessity of increasing renewable energy sources and enhancing
efficiency to meet energy demands. She identified the transportation and
building sectors as primary areas for efficiency improvements, emphasizing
their role in sustainable energy integration.
Moreover, Azzam emphasized the pivotal role
of delivering electricity to end-users and the necessity of strengthening
electrical interconnections within the Mediterranean region to achieve common
goals effectively.
The future of green hydrogen, particularly
in the Eastern Mediterranean, emerged as a focal point. Successful energy
transformation requires substantial investments. Azzam emphasized the
importance of establishing modern legal and financial frameworks to attract the
necessary investments in the region.
Expressing gratitude for attendees'
participation and contributions, Azzam highlighted the significance of their
input in enriching conference discussions. She noted that these exchanges play
a crucial role in addressing global environmental and economic challenges
participating countries face.
Jordan's active participation underscored
its commitment to international cooperation and engagement in energy and gas
dialogues, recognizing the vital importance of these sectors for the Kingdom's
development and the broader regional context.
