During the
bariatric surgery conference held at
Al-Kindi Hospital in cooperation with IFSO, Miller said that global obesity
surgeon Dr. Mohammad Khrais has elevated bariatric surgery in Jordan to a
global level.
Jordan has therefore become an accredited center at
the federation, he noted.
Khrais said that obesity surgery in the Kingdom
attracts patients from 55 nations worldwide. He said that adjustable gastric
surgeries constitute 75 percent of obesity operations, while normal gastric
bypass surgeries constitute the remaining 25 percent of operations, including 5
percent binary gastric bypass.
He explained that the IFSO is in constant contact
with the center for bariatric surgery at the Kindi Hospital, which is the only
center in the Kingdom and the first in the Arab region accredited by the
federation. He said the procedures there are included in the studies and
research conducted by IFSO.
Jordan is a reference for studies and research
conducted by the International Federation, Khrais noted.
Former Minister of Health Ali Al-Hyasat said that
Kindi operations are broadcast live to consult with specialized surgeons
globally.
