AMMAN — Speaker of the Lower House Abdel
Moneim Odat said Jordan has learned many "difficult" lessons, since
the beginning of the
COVID-19 pandemic, and turned related challenges and risks
into opportunities and new planning horizons, according to the Jordan News

In this regard, Odat said that the pandemic allowed
Jordan and its institutions to "differentiate logistical capabilities
available to sectors and institutions, from real capabilities required to
manage crises."
Odat made his remarks while inaugurating the Jordanian
Economy Conference on Saturday, adding that the pandemic, despite its dangers
and catastrophic effects, is not the only crisis facing the world.
Odat referred to climate change, scarcity of water
and food resources, regional and international imbalances, and disruption of
the global economic and financial systems as "crises that will increase
chaos and ignite economic and trade wars."
Locally, Odat lauded the efforts of all Jordanian
national bodies, which through their scientific and research contributions,
identified the pandemic's "real" effects on the country’s various
economic, social and educational sectors, and other businesses which were hit
by disruption of their operations.
Odat also stressed the need to create a political
and parliamentary environment that is capable of developing tools and spaces
for popular participation in decision-making and continuing the process of
economic, social and administrative reform to face challenges.
