AMMAN — President of the University of
Jordan Nazir Obeidat said the university’s 60th anniversary celebration is
canceled, in mourning for the Public Security Directorate (PSD) officers who
were killed in the line of duty, according to Al-Mamlaka TV.
Obeidat offered condolences, on behalf of the
university, to the families of the three PSD personnel on Monday morning.
The National Center for Disease Control announced
that it was postponing the launch of its first strategy for another day, also
in mourning for the “martyrs” of the security services.
Three police officers were killed on Monday and five
others were injured during a raid on the hideout of a man suspected of killing
a police colonel while on duty in the southern Maan Governorate a few days ago.
According to a statement issued by the PSD, the
suspect was killed during the raid, and eight others were apprehended.
The suspect is allegedly responsible for killing
Col. Abdulrazaq Dalabeeh, the assistant director of the Maan Police
Directorate, while officers were responding to riots in the Hussainiya district
of Maan, according to the PSD.
