AMMAN — The olive
harvest is 15 percent complete, according to the General Syndicate of Jordanian
Olive Oil Mill Owners and Olive Producers.

The harvesting season began in mid-October.
Syndicate spokesperson Mahmoud Al-Omari told Khaberni
that the demand for olive oil is high compared to last year, and that the
quantity of oil being produced in the current season is “very good”.
He predicted that olive oil production for this season
will be similar to that of last season.
Jordan is home to around 20 million olive trees and 138 olive oil mills,
which provide around 1,000 job opportunities.
