Amman – The Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission, Engineer Ziad Al-Saida, inaugurated the Qatrana Key Substation and a new customer service office in the Al-Thinya area of Karak Governorate, within the service area of the Electricity Distribution Company, on Monday.

According to a statement issued by the commission on Tuesday, Al-Saida praised the Electricity Distribution Company’s efforts to extend its services to all areas within its service area without requiring customers to visit the company’s main offices.
The opening of new customer service offices facilitates service delivery and saves time and effort for citizens to complete their transactions.
He stressed the importance of continuing to develop and improve work processes and simplify procedures to ensure that citizens receive services promptly, with any inquiries or complaints being addressed as quickly as possible.
Al-Saida also encouraged the company to intensify public awareness campaigns through various media channels about the optimal use of electricity and to provide guidance that contributes to using more efficient methods, thereby avoiding high bills in case of increased consumption due to prevailing weather conditions.
He also emphasized the need to complete the smart meter project and replace all old meters within its service area before the end of the current year in line with the economic modernization vision.
He affirmed that the commission will continue to carry out its tasks of monitoring the development of the sector and educating citizens about the importance of rationalizing consumption. Any complaints regarding electricity bills and service quality will be addressed with utmost seriousness.
For her part, Engineer Reem Hamdan, General Director of the Electricity Distribution Company, confirmed the company’s efforts to develop services for its subscribers in all areas within its service area, including the governorates of Karak, Tafila, Ma'an, Aqaba, the Jordan Valley, and the eastern region.
She praised the commission’s commitment to enhancing interaction with sector companies, noting that the Qatrana Key Substation will meet the growing demand for electricity in the Qatrana area.
The station will supply power to five feeders, including Qatrana, Sultan, Suwaqa, Al-Lajun, and the Chinese Ceramic Factory, and will provide a ring connection with the Karak and Al-Mazar transformer stations to enhance power quality and provide safe services to subscribers in Karak Governorate.
Engineer Al-Saida also toured the commission’s regulatory station in Karak Governorate, where he reviewed the operations and listened to feedback and suggestions from the commission’s employees working at the station to simplify procedures and improve services in the sector for the residents of the governorate and surrounding areas.
He emphasized the importance of regulatory stations in the governorates and their role in enhancing regulatory and supervisory tasks in the sector through qualified and specialized staff to efficiently and quickly complete citizens' transactions, simplify procedures, and improve the services provided by the commission without the need to visit the main commission offices in the capital.
