Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Nayef Al-Fayez said that 3.4 million visitors were expected in Jordan by the end of 2022, and that the 2.5 million already recorded in the first seven months of this year indicate the start of recovery in the tourism sector.

According to Fayez, “this recovery began during the first quarter of the year due to the mitigating measures taken and to the removal of the many obstacles that prevented visitors from coming to Jordan, as well as to the promotional programs intended to attract larger numbers of people from all over the world to Jordan.”

He pointed out that “these numbers reflected positively on the tourism income, which was estimated to exceed JD2.9 billion by the end of 2022”, adding that, according to figured from the Central Bank of Jordan, tourism revenue exceeded JD1.5 billion in the first half of the year.

According to the monthly bulletin issued by the Tourism Ministry, the number of overnight tourists recorded a remarkable 206.7 percent increase over the same period in 2021, with the number of overnight tourists from European countries increasing in the first seven months of 2022 by 526.4 percent over the same period of 2021.
