The ministry stated that the Rural Electricity Fund (Fils al-Reef) played a key role in expanding the electricity network to cover all population segments, including small rural communities, some of which consist of only five houses. The number of homes benefiting from the fund in these areas reached 434, with a cost of 2.13 million dinars. Additionally, the fund supported 929 individual homes located outside urban planning boundaries with a cost of 652,502 dinars.

The ministry affirmed its commitment to improving the living standards of residents in areas outside urban boundaries, especially targeting underprivileged families and those with limited incomes.

The ministry allocated 97,026 dinars to support 97 homes for these families.

The Rural Electricity Fund also contributed to enhancing the capacity of transformer stations to reduce voltage drop and minimize electrical losses, with a total cost of 208,444 dinars. Additionally, 104 cemeteries were illuminated, with an investment of 675,489 dinars, improving services for citizens.

In terms of supporting productive projects, 37 agricultural, industrial, and investment projects in areas outside urban planning boundaries benefited from the fund, with a total cost of 1.02 million dinars.

The ministry also highlighted the contribution of the Rural Electricity Fund to supporting government and security sector projects, allocating 4.88 million dinars to support initiatives by governmental sectors, cooperative associations, and charitable organizations in remote areas.

Regarding the use of renewable energy, a tender was launched for the installation of solar systems connected to the grid for 1,086 homes of underprivileged families. Additionally, solar systems were allocated to 1,493 injured military personnel, which will contribute to improving their quality of life.

As part of the initiative to replace lighting units, 410,000 traditional lighting units were replaced with energy-efficient (LED) lights, at a cost of 5 million dinars, which will result in financial savings and a safer environment for municipalities.

The ministry affirmed that it will continue to implement projects supporting sustainable energy in remote areas, ensuring a more sustainable and secure environment for citizens across the Kingdom.

The Rural Electricity Fund aims to extend electrical service to villages and rural communities, either through regular networks or by utilizing renewable energy sources. This effort helps alleviate financial burdens on citizens, providing electricity to homes and locations both inside and outside urban planning boundaries, while also reducing electricity bills for low-income families.

The ministry further clarified that the Rural Electricity Fund operates based on principles and regulations approved by the Cabinet, with a focus on local development and meeting the needs of rural communities. The fund places particular emphasis on the sustainability of energy in remote areas by utilizing local renewable energy sources, such as solar power.
