The ministry spokesperson, Muhannad Al-Khatib, was
quoted by Al-Mamlaka TV as saying that the passing rate was over 65 percent; of
these, 19,718 passed the first time and 12,012 the second time, the latter
either a resit or an attempt to increase their GPA.
Khatib also said that “the process of submitting
electronic applications for admission in official Jordanian universities will
start from Tuesday morning until 12 midnight Saturday, February 19, through the
unit’s website (www.admhec.gov.jo.”
The Higher Education Council had earlier decided
that all official Jordanian universities will start their scholastic year at
the same time; the second semester of the 2021–2022 academic year will begin on
February 27, 2022.
The council also agreed to allocate 10 percent of
the seats in each major/university to students who took the supplementary
session exams for the purposes of improving their grades.
However, starting with the next academic year
(2022–2023), students who will have taken the exams a second time to get a
better average will be allocated only 5 percent of the seats.
