The prime minister
stressed that oversight bodies should not be affiliated with political parties,
in order to be able to carry out their work impartially, and protect the
democratic process and the concept of partisan engagement.
Oversight of
financial affairs, human rights, and the judiciary, he indicated, should be
free from any partisan practice.
“Those who engage
in judicial or supervisory work need to stay clear of partisan work until they
leave public office,” Khasawneh said, further stressing the need to ensure the
impartiality of the supervisory authorities in regard to state finances, which
monitor the spending of the executive body.
As the country
works to develop political life, oversight and security authorities must be
neutral, not involved in partisan work, said the prime minister.
He added that there will be amendments to current
regulations whose objective is to encourage and motivate young people to engage
in partisan work in universities.
