PRESS RELEASE – Oxfam in Jordan, a leading humanitarian organization, has
initiated the 'NO MORE Campaign' to raise awareness and call for renewed
solidarity and firm commitments from the international community to uphold the
rights of people affected by the protracted refugee crisis in Jordan.

The campaign
highlights the pressing consequences of diminishing humanitarian funding, which
is having severe repercussions for Syrian refugees and vulnerable communities
in Jordan. The campaign emphasizes how funding cuts across multiple sectors,
including agriculture and food security, education, health, livelihoods and
economic recovery, protection Shelter and settlements, water, sanitation, and
hygiene (WASH), Disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation,
governance and peacebuilding, and solid waste management (SWM), are impacting
refugees and vulnerable Jordanians in critical ways.
As the crisis
persists and funding decreases, refugees are slipping further into poverty and
debt, facing a looming humanitarian crisis. Reduced incomes and rising prices
are making it increasingly difficult for refugees to meet their basic needs.
Oxfam is calling on donors to increase their humanitarian contributions to
mitigate this crisis and aid refugees and vulnerable Jordanians in securing
their basic necessities.
Oxfam is working
to promote the pledge on Meaningful Refugee Participation, led by the Global
Refugee-Led Network (GRN), as well as contributing to the pledge on
localization. We're also working with the GRN to advocate for the mainstreaming
of refugee participation across all pledges.
The NO MORE
Campaign is a critical initiative that underscores the need for coordinated and
sustained humanitarian funding to address the complex and multi-faceted
challenges faced by refugees and vulnerable communities in Jordan. The campaign
utilizes an evidence-based approach, supported by factual evidence that
highlights the potential impacts on the refugees and the host community.
The NO MORE
Campaign is strategically aligned with the Global Refugee Forum (GRF),
scheduled for December 13-15, 2023, in Geneva, co-convened by Colombia, France,
Japan, Jordan, Niger, and Uganda. This campaign is set to commence on November
26, 2023, and extend throughout and beyond the GRF event.
