Minister
Bisher Al-Khasawneh on Sunday held talks with
Egyptian Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mohamed Shaker, just as the two countries reached
an agreement to ramp up the capacity of the Jordanian-Egyptian power
interconnection grid to 1,000MW, from 500MW.

The premier underscored the "deep-rooted and
distinguished" relations the two countries have in various fields thanks
to the support of His Majesty
King Abdullah and Egyptian President
Abdel FattahEl-Sisi.
Khasawneh also said that Jordan and Egypt agree on a
host of Arab, regional and international issues, and have a common vision of
how to fulfil the aspirations of the two peoples, stressing that Jordan is
committed to enhancing prospects for joint cooperation in all fields.
He commended the outcome of the talks between the two
countries' energy ministers, which ended up in the agreement to raise the power
interconnection capacity.
Khasawneh was briefed by the Jordanian and Egyptian
energy ministers on plans to expand the power grid capacity, means to develop
the electricity sector, and create new markets for importing and exporting electricity
to enable both countries to exchange energy with countries in the region and
Europe.
