AMMAN —
Deputizing for His Majesty King Abdullah, Prime Minister Bisher Al-Khasawneh
inaugurated the ninth edition of the Middle East and North Africa Information
and Communications Technology (MENA ICT) Forum at the Dead Sea’s King Hussein
Bin Talal Convention Center.

The forum, also
attended by HRH Princess Sumaya, president of the Royal Scientific Society, is
organized by the Information and Communications Technology Association “Intaj”.
The event is
planned in partnership with the Ministry of Digital Economy and
Entrepreneurship, the Ministry of Investment, and the Central Bank of Jordan,
the Jordan News Agency, Petra reported.
It brought together
77 representatives of 50 investment funds in the region, and about 2,000
participants, including officials, experts, and specialists in the public and
private sectors, representing 40 countries.
Over the course
of two days, more than 145 speakers will take part in discussions and
presentations, with 154 participants showcasing their products and business
solutions, including 63 companies.
Minister of
Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship Ahmed Hananda said the ICT sector in
Jordan is one of the fastest growing, and boasts achievements and success
stories.
He underscored
that the ministry will do its utmost to enable the sector to expand locally,
regionally and globally, play a key role in economic growth and provide job
opportunities.
The ministry, he
said, is looking to make Jordan a regional hub for communications and
information technology, highlighting the fact that it enjoys skilled
individuals in the field, good infrastructure, is guided by the Royal vision
and enjoys government support.
