AMMAN — Prime Minister, Bisher Khasawneh on Tuesday met with King Carl XVI Gustav of Sweden, in the presence of Queen Silvia of Sweden, HRH Prince Ali bin Al Hussein, and HRH Princess Rym Ali, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

The Prime Minister commended bilateral ties and stressed keenness to expand joint cooperation between the two countries.
The Prime Minister also stressed the importance of King and Queen of Sweden's state visit to Jordan upon the invitation of His Majesty King Abdullah, and its role in enhancing bilateral ties and opening broader areas of cooperation between the two countries.
Khasawneh lauded as "positive" and "important" Sweden's role towards the issues of the region and the world, noting that Jordan looks forward to Sweden presiding over the European Union (EU) early next year to enhance relations and cooperation with the bloc and bilaterally with Sweden.
The Premier said that opportunities and areas are available for cooperation between the two countries, especially in the fields of investment, education, vocational training, water treatment, renewable energy, and transportation, underlining the importance of the private sector's role in the two countries in exploring these opportunities and building on the distinguished friendship between the two countries.
He highlighted the comprehensive modernization project led by His Majesty King Abdullah in its three political, economic and administrative tracks, as Jordan is entering its second centennial. This plan, Khasawneh emphasized, aimed at improving services provided to citizens and investors, developing the economy, empowering the private sector, and enhancing citizen participation in political and partisan life.
He pointed to the government's efforts to deal with impacts of the Syrian refugee crisis on the Kingdom and infrastructure sectors, especially education and health, as well as the impact of the Ukrainian-Russian crisis on prices of commodities and basic materials.
For his part, King Carl XVI Gustav said his meeting with King Abdullah today was fruitful, stressing that the friendly relations between the two countries are strong and that the governments of the two countries can build on them to serve the two friendly countries and peoples.
He lauded as "important" Jordan's role under the leadership of King Abdullah n the region and the world.
The King of Sweden commended Jordan's comprehensive modernization process and its efforts to enhance the economic and investment environments.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs and Minister of State for Public Sector Modernization, Nasser Shraideh, Minister of State for Prime Ministry Affairs, Ibrahim Jazi, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Zeina Toukan, and the delegation accompanying the King of Sweden.
