The Prime Minister highlighted the strategic relations between the two countries and the commitment to bolstering bilateral cooperation in all fields. He also lauded the US support to the Kingdom's development efforts.

The meeting tackled the latest developments in the Middle East and efforts to achieve security and stability. The premier stressed the importance of finding a just, lasting and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian cause based on the two-state solution that would guarantee the establishment of a Palestinian state on the 4 June 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

He stressed the need to maintain the legal and historical status quo in Jerusalem, under the historic Hashemite Custodianship over Islamic and Christian holy sites.

Khasawneh highlighted the challenges and burdens Jordan shoulders from hosting more than 1.3 million Syrian refugees, 90 percent of which are living in cities and villages, pressuring the education, health and water sectors, as well as job opportunities.

For her part, Thomas-Greenfield lauded Jordan's key role in regional security and stability, in addition to hosting Syrian refugees and providing basic services to them.

She underscored the importance of supporting Jordan's efforts by other countries and international donors to shoulder the burdens of hosting Syrian refugees.

The prime minister and ambassador underlined the need to continue cooperation between the two countries in various regional and global issues.
