During a meeting at
the Lower House of Parliament, the premier urged commitment to price cap
regulation set by the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Supply for a number of
basic commodities.
He underlined that
the government will, under the authority of the law, strike with an iron fist
anyone who infringes on citizens’ livelihoods, pointing to fines issued by the
Industry Ministry against violators, and a few cases that were referred to the
Public Prosecutor.
Administrative
governors across the Kingdom, he added, have been instructed to address price
hikes, noting that any citizen can file a complaint with the ministry and the
government will, in turn, use the full force of the law to address the issue.
Khasawneh stressed
the government’s commitment to taking the necessary measures to alleviate any
possible economic repercussions on citizens and their livelihoods, especially
those with low incomes.
