According to a PSD statement, the decision to operate the new all-terrain fleet came as a Royal benefaction, as part of a series of initiatives and programs that were developed with the support of His Majesty King Abdullah II, aimed at developing and preserving the Kingdom's tourist and natural areas.

The statement said the vehicles will contribute to improve the PSD's environmental and tourism services, intensify monitoring services and enhance access capabilities to different terrains, especially in forests, desert areas, and natural reserves.

In a ceremony, the PSD received 30 4WD quads from Royal Court Chief, Yousef Issawi , head of the follow-up committee for the implementation of Royal initiatives, and in the presence of the PSD's Director, Maj. Gen. Dr. Obaidullah Maaytah.

The new fleet's crews and drivers passed intensive courses and trial duties, before actual operations kicked off last weekend.
