Parliamentary Blocks: Attacking Jordan and its security agencies is an assault that should not be tolerated.
The legislative and executive branches (Parliament and the Government) have agreed in rejecting any offense against the Jordanian Armed Forces and security agencies, or any questioning of Jordan's firm and unwavering stance in continuously supporting its brothers in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
This agreement was expressed by Speaker of the House of Representatives Ahmad Al-Safadi, Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan, and the parliamentary blocs, all of whom affirmed that the Hashemite leadership, the Jordanian Armed Forces, and the security agencies are a red line that should not be violated. They also emphasized that Jordan's unwavering positions, which are recognized by everyone, should not be undermined. This was discussed in the session held by the House of Representatives yesterday morning, chaired by Al-Safadi, with the presence of Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan and several government officials.
Hassan: Jordan's Interests Above All
Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan stated under the Dome of the House of Representatives: "No one is closer to the Palestinian people than us, and no one has supported the Palestinian cause as much as Jordan has with its Hashemite leadership, throughout history, with blood, martyrs, and unwavering positions." He pointed out that Jordan's policy "is well-known and clear regarding our Palestinian brothers, and this is our duty, and we will continue in it under the leadership of His Majesty the King, both Jordanian, Arab, and international, without fatigue."
He added, "Jordan's interests come above everything else, and no one dictates to Jordanians what they should do. We will not allow any party or entity to intervene in our internal affairs, our choices, or our decisions. We will not allow anyone to impose foreign plans and decisions outside of our national policies and objectives, or sacrifice our supreme interests that are determined solely by the state."
The Prime Minister continued, "We will not allow groups to incite against the state and its institutions or exploit the pure and noble sentiments of our people for their own goals. The highest goal is to solidify the Palestinian people on their national land, and this is not done by tampering with Jordan's security, stability, and the safety of its people and land."
He emphasized that, "Our borders and security are protected by our Arab Army and our vigilant security agencies. No loyal Jordanian can remain silent on any attack on our Jordanian identity, our national institutions, and our deep-rooted values."
The Prime Minister stressed that, in light of the crises and conflicts the region is witnessing, it is the state's duty to maintain its security and stability and to protect its citizens. "When it comes to Jordan's security, stability, and sovereignty, no priority comes before Jordan, and no decision other than the state's decision is accepted. This is a firm stance that cannot be debated."
He also said, "Jordanians do not accept any form of criticism or attack on our honorable role and our positions, which are recognized by every fair observer. Jordanians will not accept that some try to exploit their sincere anger and grief over the brutality faced by their Palestinian brothers at the hands of Israel and the tragedy in Gaza to undermine our efforts or shake our resolve and the unity of our national fabric."
The Prime Minister further stated that while the state is keen on safeguarding the right of Jordanians to express their opinions and solidarity with our brothers, it is also entrusted with protecting Jordan and enforcing the law, preventing insults or violations against its institutions and the efforts of its proud citizens. "We will not allow any seeds of discord to be sown among our people, as we are all Jordanians, united in our sincere loyalty, love, and belief in this great country, its national identity, and our wise Hashemite leadership."
He concluded, saying the government is making great efforts to improve the economic situation, raise the volume of investments, and advance strategic projects.
Al-Safadi: Enough Attacks and Hiding Behind Double Standards
For his part, Speaker of the House of Representatives Ahmad Al-Safadi said that the Parliament rejects all actions that go against the law and the firm values of Jordanians, which have recently been expressed through malicious voices. He stressed that attacking the army is a crime and ingratitude that cannot be accepted or tolerated. "Whoever questions the army, we say in the voice of the Jordanians: the army is above us, the army is in our eyes, the army is in our hearts."
He added, "Anyone who cares about Jordan does not justify for any party or group to touch the place of the army in the hearts of Jordanians. This great army has defended the homeland in times of chaos and under all circumstances, preserving Jordan's territory, guarding it against treachery and destruction. This army fought on the walls of Jerusalem and extended to its Arab brothers with waves of martyrs. It has continued, despite the flames, to support our people in Gaza. The military field hospitals in Gaza are one of the heroic testimonies that some people are unaware of. Enough with these attacks and enough hiding behind double standards. Jordan deserves only one language: ‘A great homeland that we defend with our hearts and souls, and a noble leader from the Hashemite lineage whom we proudly boast about in the world, and a valiant army and security agencies that fear no enemy.’"
He continued, "We say clearly: if it weren't for the army and our security agencies, who protect the borders of the nation in the heat of summer and the cold of winter, and in the face of the treachery of enemies, we wouldn't be sitting in our seats today. Security is the equation for stability and the backbone of any nation. We will not allow anyone to tamper with our principles under any pretext, and we will remain strong with a united home front. Our loyal Jordanian people will always remain aware, as they always have."
Parliamentary Blocks Reject Any Offense to the Armed Forces
MP Mohammed Al-Sbayleh from the "Iradah" and "Islamic National" bloc expressed that the prevailing international environment demands that we all act with wisdom and courage regarding Jordan and the Palestinian cause. He emphasized that Jordan will remain resilient against conspiracies and challenges with the will of its army and people. He also noted that national unity and the cohesion of the people with the leadership and the army are the strength and immunity that must be preserved.
MP Ayman Abu Haniya from the "Azm" bloc condemned all attempts to deviate from the law and the national and ethical values that represent the essence of belonging to Jordan. He pointed out that some have exploited what is happening in Gaza to attack the symbols of the state and stir chaos, spread discord, and question Jordan's steadfast positions.
MP Ayman Abu Rab from the Islamic Action Front affirmed that the Jordanian people, tribes, the Arab army, and the steadfast institutions and wise leadership deserve all the respect, and the bloc clearly rejects any offense to these components, calling for the preservation of national unity.
MP Zahir Al-Khashman from the "Middle Parties Alliance" bloc stated that supporting Gaza should not come at the expense of internal unrest within Jordan, and any attack on Jordan and its leadership and army is a red line.
MP Haitham Zayadin from the National Charter Party warned against tampering with the security and stability of the country, stressing that anyone who attacks the Arab Army should be held accountable. He demanded that security agencies act decisively against anyone who offends the army.
Independent MP Ismail Al-Mushaqbah affirmed his rejection of any attack on the army and called for the adoption of a memorandum by the Jordanian Parliament and its submission to the global parliament to demand the listing of Israeli leaders as international terrorists, stressing that the world must recognize that the Israeli occupying state practices terrorism against the defenseless Palestinian people.
