In an interview,
Maaytah added that more than seven new political parties will be ready or
“clearly defined” by the end of the year.
Political parties
whose establishment predate the new law have until May 14, 2023 to rectify
their position in line with the new requirements, the chairman said.
He added that
Jordan is currently seeing am active, growing partisan movement, stressing that
the IEC does not involve itself in the internal discussions of the parties.
Meanwhile, MP
Saleh Al-Armouti expressed his lack of optimism that the new political parties
and election laws and amendments to the Constitution will lead to parliamentary
governments, Jo24 reported.
The lawmaker said
the government will face obstacles in the implementation of the laws, and
predicted that there will be violations that result in the legislation being
revised by the
Cabinet.
“Some people have changed
from fighting (political) parties ... to (being) founders of parties,” Armouti
said, claiming that “these parties do not have an ideological or partisan
base”.
