AMMAN — On Saturday, the
Byzantine Church in Petra
hosted the Epiphany prayer for the first time in over 1400 years, marking
Petra's inclusion in the Christian pilgrimage map, Al-Mamlaka TV reported.

The Head of the
Petra Development and Tourism Authority, Fares Al-Breizat announced that Petra's ten recognized churches,
including the Byzantine Church, aim to become part of the Christian pilgrimage
path in Jordan to extend tourists' stays in Petra and attract more Christian
pilgrims to the region, specifically Petra.
In addition, the apostolic nuncio to Jordan, Giovanni
Pietro Dal Toso, expressed the significance of adding Petra to the Christian
pilgrimage map, emphasizing the historical and religious aspects of the city.
He further encouraged collaboration between the
Petra Development and Tourism Authority (PDTRA) and the Vatican to develop and promote Christian pilgrimage
products globally.
