AMMAN — Petra
recorded the highest monthly number of visitors since the start of the COVID-19
pandemic in October, according to Al-Ghad News.

The Petra Tourism Development Region
Authority shared that the number of visitors during October reached around
40,000. The authority also published a statistic that showed an increase in the
number of foreign, Jordanian, and Arab visitors to Petra.
The number of visitors of
October reached 39,272 visitors in total, 25,383 of them foreign, 11,615 of
them Jordanian, and 2,274 of them Arab.
This indicates a significant
increase from last year, where only 360 people in total visited due to the COVID-19
pandemic.
Sulaiman Farajat, Chairman of
the Board of Commissioners of Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority, said:
“Tourism helped in the returning work to most hotel establishments,
restaurants, shops, and tourist bazaars, and contributed to revitalizing the
commercial movement after COVID-19 pandemic, which greatly affected the tourism
sector.”
