AMMAN — The pharmaceutical sector is “suffering greatly” due to the practice of randomly issuing licences and the establishment of a large number of new pharmacies, as Jordan currently has about 4,500 pharmacies, said head of the Jordan Pharmacists Association Dr Muhammad Al-Ababneh on Monday.اضافة اعلان

Ababneh was speaking during a meeting of the Parliamentary Health and Environment Committee, headed by MP Dr Firas Al-Qudah, which focused on the key challenges facing the Kingdom’s pharmaceutical sector, Ammon News reported.

Qudah said that the need to regulate the pharmacy sector in Jordan “has become urgent”, especially given the “significant increase” in the number of pharmacies, which “threatens the entire sector”.

The MP also stressed the importance of supporting the production inputs of Jordan’s pharmaceutical industries to limit prices, which have become a burden on citizens, in addition to the need to promote national products to compete in global markets.
