According to GAM Parks and
Anti-Desertification Department Director Zaid Al-Hadid, works in this phase
cover an area of 82 dunums and include planting 5,700 forest trees, which are
produced by the department.
He added that stone ramps have been
placed to prevent soil erosion, in addition to paths and sidewalks, a water
tank with a capacity of 50 cubic meters, and irrigation networks.
This step “comes in line with the
vision and directives of His Majesty King Abdullah to increase the green cover
in eastern Amman, to enhance efforts to combat desertification and preserve
green vegetation, and to secure a natural outlet for citizens,” Shawarbeh said.
He stressed that the
Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) will continue agricultural work that achieves environmental
balance, keeping up the maintenance of parks, which serve as community outlets.
