The short video showed a three-year-old girl crying outdoors in a place she
identified as a cemetery, claiming that her mother was buried there. She also
claimed that her step-mother had kicked her out of the house, while her father
was at work.
An unidentified man, who did not show up in the video, asked the girl if she
could go stay with her grandparents. The answer was negative. The girl said she
wanted to stay in the house where he mother had lived.
Sartawi said that the video, which was seen on social media, showed the child
complaining of ill-treatment following her mother's death.
An investigation was initiated to identify the child at the location where the
video was filmed to ascertain the authenticity of the allegations, take the
necessary measures to find the girl, and ensure her protection, Sartawi added.
With the probe and information gathering, the child was identified. Authorities
rushed to the location, where her father was arrested after the authorities
determined that the child was in good health, and that her mother was alive.
The
Family Protection Department, which investigated the case, referred the man
to the judiciary. It also carried out a social review of the child and
household condition to protect the girl, and ensure that there would be no future
