AMMAN — In an armed confrontation with special security
forces, the police announced the deaths of three wanted terrorists, two of whom
had recently escaped from jail, according to Jordan News Agency, Petra.

The third person is a key member of a terrorist cell
responsible for the killing of a police brigadier general in December 2022
during riots in the south of the Kingdom.
The media spokesman explained that a few days ago, two
convicted prisoners managed to escape from jail. The fugitives were discovered
yesterday hundreds of meters from the Kingdom's southeastern border strip, in
highly rough terrain. They were using a stolen vehicle.
He also stated that a special security force was mobilized
and sent on foot to the area in pursuit of the wanted men.
The fugitives opened fire after being surrounded, hence the
security forces returned fire as per the rules of engagement. An exchange of
fire resulted in the death of the three wanted men.
A committee is currently investigating the jailbreak, the
spokesman concluded.
