Police nabs suspect in fatal ‘festive firing’

AMMAN — A security force arrested a man suspected of having fired shots in the air to celebrate the Tawjihi (General Secondary Certificate Examination) results on Thursday, killing a young pedestrian in a northwestern Amman neighborhood, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.اضافة اعلان

Sahel Al-Khattab was rushed to hospital on Thursday when he was struck by a stray bullet while walking in a street in northwest Amman, but later died of his wounds.

A Public Security Directorate  spokesperson said investigators managed to identify the suspect following a grueling probe which led to his arrest.

After his arrest, the suspect admitted to firing the shots in celebration of his brother’s passing the Tawjihi exams.
