AMMAN — Police investigators have solved a mysterious murder
case that was committed nearly 20 years ago.

According to a spokesperson from the Public Security
Department (PSD), the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Cold Cases team
reopened the case after obtaining new evidence and information, the Jordan News
Agency Petra reported.
The victim's body, which had reportedly been killed, was
found in a black bag in an empty land in Al-Arda area in Al-Balqa governorate,
northwest of Amman in 2004.
The PSD spokesperson explained that investigators were able
to reveal the victim's name through information and biological tests conducted
for relatives of his at the Department of Laboratories and Forensic Evidence.
The police arrested people close to the victim and some of
his friends and interrogated them. The suspects revealed that a friend of the
victim killed him inside his house north of Amman after a mutual dispute, and
with the help of another person, moved the body in his car and dumped it in an
uninhabited area.
The killer was found to be residing outside of the Kingdom,
and an international warrant for his arrest was issued.
The case was referred to the Public Prosecutor of the Grand
Criminal Court, and the investigation initiated the arrest warrant issuance
procedures. The main suspect was brought in, and another suspect was detained
for 15 days on charges of interference and incitement to murder.
