Abu Daqer added
that the increase in consumption rate was reflected through the government’s
decision to relax the
COVID-19 measures; including opening restaurants.
He also stressed
that the local market did not run out of poultry, but rather that butcheries
stopped working during the Eid Al-Fitr long holiday.
Abu Daqer pointed out that the market adheres to the
price caps set by the government despite the losses the sector had to incur.
Although, he indicated that the
Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Supply did not
take into account the increase in feed prices as well as the international
prices this year.
Earlier, the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Supply
stressed that poultry is available in high quantities in the local market and
that the ministry’s inspection teams conduct regular intensive visits on
commercial shops, including livestock supply chains.
