Rabah said on Sunday that rebar prices have recently
risen from JD50 to JD70 per tonne, up from JD550 to JD610 or JD630 per tonne.
Representative of the construction sector at the Jordan
Chamber of Commerce Jamal Abdel Mawla said that the rise in steel price is due
to “the increase in demand and the rise in scrap prices locally”.
He said that Jordan “in the past six months has relied on local scrap
instead of imports, because of the high cost of import”.
