AMMAN — President of Jordan Farmers Union Ibrahim Sharif said the prices of
vegetables and fruits are expected to drop as of next week, as the rise in
temperatures contributed to an abundance of produce and supplies to the central
market, according to Jo24.

Sharif said that it is not the
farmers that set the produce prices; rather, auction at the central market
determines those prices. He also said that while low temperature pushed produce
prices up, retailers took advantage of the situation and crossed the line in rising
the prices.
According to Sharif, there have been
no exports recently, demand for Jordanian produce is low and the land road to
Qatar is still closed.
